Wichita Baseball Selects Bypass For Its New Waterfront Ballpark Opening in 2020
Austin, TX – When you invest as much blood, sweat, tears, and resources in a new ballpark and entertainment district as the Wichita Baseball team has, for their pending move from New Orleans, no detail is overlooked.
One of those details was in selecting the right commerce platform for the new ballpark, which is expected to have a capacity of 10,000. The new ballpark will not only be the home of the Minor League baseball team, it will also be used throughout the year for other events to bring the community together and provide year-round entertainment.
In addition to luxury suites, the stadium will have nearly 50 fixed concessions and more than 30 mobile concessions points to meet fan demand. During their evaluation process, the key components the team prioritized were guest satisfaction and the ability to continuously scale their operation. They looked to Bypass for their point of sale platform. It wasn’t just about the needs of today, it was addressing the known and unknown needs many years down the road as fans’ expectations change and teams need to be ready to quickly adapt.
According to Eric Petterson, with Wichita Baseball 2020, “Our crew has worked with Bypass for a few years, both in New Orleans and with the Stone Crabs in Port Charlotte, Florida. When we got into building the new ballpark in Wichita I was excited to be able to utilize some of their features that go beyond your typical concession POS. We are going to be using the hospitality portal, both customer-facing and back of the house, a kitchen display screen for our main kitchen and Flex units for hospitality, in-seat vendors and mobile carts. We will also be able to implement NFC payment options in our concessions as we look to prepare ourselves for growth in that area.”
“When I first spoke with Eric Petterson, who was leading the charge on finding the right solution, I could feel his sheer excitement for the new ballpark in Wichita,” said Kevin Murphy. “His focus on making this entertainment complex the newest gem of MiLB and the region made it clear that it was something Bypass had to be a part of. I am grateful that Eric and Wichita Baseball has placed their faith in me and Bypass to deliver the excellence they expect and deserve!”
As construction completes, the excitement around Wichita is palpable. The 2020 season will mark the first time the city has had an affiliated Minor League Baseball team since the Wichita Wranglers team moved after the 2007 season.
