Senior Interaction Designer

Summary

Bypass is looking for a rockstar experience and interface designer who can work with our growing team to help create innovative, scalable products in our market. At Bypass we tackle big problems in the simplest way possible and deliver those solutions to the largest food and beverage merchants in the world.

In your Senior Interaction Designer role, you'll take complex workflows and transform them into intuitive, accessible and easy-to-use designs for thousands of people—from the first-time user to the sophisticated expert. Achieving this goal requires collaboration with teams of Designers, Engineers, and Product Managers throughout the design process—from creating hero flows and wireframes to building user interface mockups and prototypes.

At each stage, you will anticipate what our users need, advocate for them and ensure that the final product surprises and delights them. The ideal candidate is a mix of experience guru, UI designer, research fanatic, and someone who can take big ideas and make them concrete.

You'll be part of a team that works on Android and web applications that handle a high volume usage at tens of thousands of locations all over the world. You'll join a lively and dedicated team of Engineers and Product Managers with a strong user focus and a commitment to lean and clean methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Create design and experience concepts and proposals, then explore and drive them from early stage sketches to fully-featured prototypes.

  • Develop partnerships with User Experience, Product Management and Engineering teams to help drive the development and release of new features and enhancements to existing features. Provide design and implementation support to Engineering teams.

  • Become an expert on large scale food and beverage operations to intimately understand business goals and opportunities.

  • Develop user understandings via user stories and onsite research. Use research to explore new designs and experiences.

  • Organize and execute design sprints and related activities to help generate new product opportunities and directions. Communicate proposals and visions at various stages of the product development process with design artifacts and presentations.

  • Help to define and maintain the user model and user interface language for new and existing Bypass products and features.

  • Develop both low and high level wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.

  • Gauge the usability of new and existing products, and making constructive suggestions for change.

  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to help create beautiful materials that illuminate business value of Bypass solutions.

Requirements

  • At least five years of user experience design experience.

  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, Visio, and Dreamweaver.

  • Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of Web and Mobile technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Android.

  • Excellent communication and organization skills. Must be able to work both on a team and independently.

  • Not required, but ideal: Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction or a related design or behavioral science discipline.

  • Qualified candidates must include an online portfolio with their application.
